Each year since 1984 the adult film world has been taking a day off from the steamy Hollywood, Ca. film sets and heading to Sin City, to be admired one night a year for the work that they do. The AVN awards were founded to pay tribute to the actors, actresses, and the crew behind the cameras in the erotic film industry. Their goal is to honor the industry’s promise of erotic artistry and free spirit. The AVN awards are supported and sponsored by Adult Video News which is based in Chatsworth, California.
The 2008 AVN awards show was a milestone for the ceremonies, since they were marking their 25th year of the awards. The wildly popular Vivid Entertainment Group received the most awards last year, where they were credited with numerous awards in a variety of different categories including Best Film and Best Director.
While you might suspect that the only people you would notice at this celebration are busty blondes and toned guys, you would have guessed wrong. You are very likely to find porn actresses associating with some very famous Hollywood mainstream stars at the Vegas Adult Awards ceremony. A few unlikely individuals who have been seen or even handed out awards in past events include Dustin Diamond, Christina Aguilera, Criss Angel, Carrot Top, Sean Penn, Eddie Van Halen and Dave Navarro among others. The 2009 Las Vegas Adult Show will contain over 100 categories with everything from best director to best packaging and any other category connected to adult flicks you can imagine. The awards presented to the winners are called “Woody’s” and the recipients of a Woody are selected by industry peers and other experts and critics of the erotic film industry. Nominees for the Las Vegas Adult Show must have movies available for purchase in at least 100 video stores, and the movie should have been released before the 30th of September of the prior year. The 2009 Adult Show Vegas is going to be held on Saturday, January 10th in the Mandalay Bay Resort Casino in Vegas.
